St ANDREWS (the home of golf)

Made up of over 20 courses in the ares. The Jubilee course and clubhouse is hard to find but when you do the elevated restaurant greets you to aplome,It is surrounded by the 'old' and 'new' course. A must for visitors is the museum, opposite the back of the R&A club house. Danbarie is a new course, only 2 years but well sculptured, but the club house is not big enough to hold everybody. The Castle course has splendid views for the golfers and guest.

Royal Birkdale

I was privileged to play the Open Champion Ship Course in 2017 two weeks after Jordan Speith in the Junior Open, the tented village and stands where still there and the Cauldon atmosphere on the 18th was great.

The 473 yard Par 5 18th was great, after my tee shot ran on past the elbow and bunker it only left me a pitch and a put for an Eagle, sadly two putted and just got a birdie.

Best Sandwich offer for a Junior Open. Great to play the Open Course while the stands and flags were still up, just missing the crowds.

Brocket Hall

Consisting of the two courses Palmeston and Melbourne. Two very tricky courses with an 18th Hole on the Melbourne like Branston but a little longer over the lake. Good job they have a ferry, very near the home course of Sir Nick Faldo.

Chevin Golf Club

Well at least the first and last hole is flat, but then every shot has an incline till the frightening 8th when you tee up next to a vent chimney for the very fast Edinburgh / London line. It was a great venue for the British Heart Foundation, an ECG should be compulsory before you start!

St Anne's Old Links

A superb view from the 1st floor lounge where supporter can gather to watch their player go down the 1st come up the short 9th and up the 18th . From the Blackpool Tower and the airport in the distance and down the coast.

Alcaidesa - Links - Heathland

The 4th Hole on the Links course has the most splendid views of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean. A good drive from the elevated tee will leave a good 3 wood off the tight deck and you could be on the green and putting for an Eagle.

Branston Golf & Country Club

My original home club and still where I spend most of my time in the Gym and the driving range.

The best hole has got to be the 15th on the Championship course where I last scored an Ace.

If you go any way left it’s the River Trent, if you go right it’s a bunker. The place to be in on the green and in the cup.

Beau Desert

A frightening 1st hole across the terrifying gorse and weeds up a hill and beyond, the next time you see them is coming down the stretch. Mind your head in the bar?

My Father's favourite is not so much a course but the facilities he uses while I am on the course. He explains the most pleasant facilities was at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Vilamore, Portugal, in the Gentlemens wash room next to the Lockers was a very comfortable Chaise Longue, so difficult not to take a little Siesta in mid afternoon. The food was also excelent at the Portuguese Junior Masters a prize I won at the Rob Rock Tour.
