Missing Golf

You might be wondering why I have not been playing golf recently?

I have been suffering from severe back and leg pain for a few months now, and I have been receiving treatment, however, after recent MRI scan I have been diagnosed with severe spinal canal stenosis (it is centre of the disk bulging and pressing on the spinal canal nerves), which is weakening my legs and affects my golf swing.

I was told by my GP and orthopaedic consultant to immediately stop any strenuous activities especially playing golf as it may worsen the injury and cause paralysis. I will be having surgery sometime soon.

Therefore, I have cancelled all the competitions for the remainder of the season. Of course, it came as a shock to me and I am absolutely gutted, but I remain positive and hope once the treatment is complete I will be fully fit to return to a normal life and competitive golf. I’ll be back.

Thank you all for your support and understanding, it is much appreciated in this difficult time. My advise to all golfers and not, if you have a ‘twinge’ in your back which does not go away, have it checked, it might be nothing but it might be something needing medical attention.

Best Regards,

Alexei.
